History

The history of the Grimus family and that of Mt Buller is intertwined from the early days of lift development to and beyond the establishment of Hotel Pension Grimus, built in authentic Tyrolean style true to Hans Grimus’ Austrian heritage. Today still, the commitment to excellent hospitality and personal attention in the best European tradition continues.

Hotel Pension Grimus was voted “Best Australian Alpine Accommodation 2006”. The prestigious Australian Hotel Management awards are given to those who excel in their hotel, accommodation and customer service offering. At both the 2008 & 2009 World Travel Awards ceremonies Hotel Pension Grimus was named “Leading Ski Resort Hotel - Australia”.

In addition in 2009 the hotel was named as the “Leading Ski Resort Hotel – Australasia” encompassing both the Australian and New Zealand ski fields – a truly significant tribute to this establishment.

As a small family-run business that takes pride in the service offered to guests, it is indeed very gratifying for the Grimus family to receive these types of accolades and have their efforts recognised.
